Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen scored just two Premier League goals last season.

Tim Sherwood has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on June 21st, that Vincent Janssen needs to improve for Tottenham Hotspur next season.

Janssen was brought in by Spurs last summer, but he has endured a difficult first season in North London.

The Dutch forward has failed to score with any regularity, and his future at Spurs already appears in doubt.

And Sherwood feels that Janssen simply must improve next term, if he is to stay with the Lilywhites.

“Janssen might improve from last year. He needs to,” Sherwood said. “Because when Harry Kane was missing Heung-Min Son had to step up to the plate. But they do have goals throughout the squad.”

Janssen scored just two Premier League goals last term, despite making 27 appearances.

Tottenham's Vincent Janssen looks dejected

With Spurs looking to bring in another forward, the 22-year-old could find his game-time more limited next term – unless he can impress over pre-season.

Janssen did show flashes of quality at times last campaign, but on other occasions he looked cumbersome and off the pace.

Tottenham begin next campaign with a match against newly promoted Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.
