Newcastle United are currently just two points above the relegation zone.

Tim Sherwood manager of Tottenham Hotspur smiles during the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Fulham at White Hart Lane on April 19, 2014 in London, England.

Tim Sherwood has told Goals on Sunday, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 4th March, that Newcastle United are set for a thrilling end to the season.

Newcastle are currently only just clear of safety, and sit in 16th place in the Premier League table.

The Magpies are just two points clear of the relegation zone, after losing 2-0 against Liverpool yesterday.

And Sherwood does not believe that Rafael Benitez’s side are going to be able to relax right until the end of the season.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez looks on during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Burnley at Old Trafford on December 26, 2017 in Manchester, England.

He said: “They’re going to go right to the wire. They are going to be in amongst it.

“This season will go right down to the last game, and they could be one of the teams which go right down to the last match of the season.”

Newcastle rarely threatened against Liverpool yesterday, with Benitez setting his side up very defensively.

The Magpies barely troubled Loris Karius in the Liverpool goal, as they refused to open up.

Newcastle will surely show more attacking intent in the near future, as they face easier fixtures.

The Magpies’ next match comes against fellow strugglers Southampton, and three points would be huge for either side’s survival chances.
