Loris Karius has enjoyed an excellent run of form at Liverpool of late.

Tottenham Hotspur interim manager Tim Sherwood acknowledges his sides fans following the Barclays Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on May...

Tim Sherwood has told Goals on Sunday, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 4th March, that he believes Loris Karius might well be the answer for Liverpool’s goalkeeping problems.

Liverpool have struggled to pick a number one this term, with both Karius and Simon Mignolet having stints in the team.

However, it is currently Mignolet who appears to be first choice, and the German is enjoying a good spell of form.

Loris Karius of Liverpool celebrates his sides second goal during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on February 4, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Karius has impressed over recent weeks, and he kept a clean-sheet yesterday, as Liverpool beat Newcastle United 2-0.

Although the 24-year-old was largely untroubled, he made one excellent save just before half-time in the contest.

And Sherwood said: “I think Klopp was unsure whether it was Mignolet or Karius, but now he’s made a stand and said you’re my number one. And he might be the answer.

“He’s only 24, he’s allowed to develop. I don’t think De Gea was the best goalkeeper in the world when he first came over here. He could be the answer for Liverpool.”

Liverpool have been linked with Roma stopper Allison recently, but Karius’ form may just convince Klopp that he does not need to be a new goalkeeper in the summer.

Liverpool’s victory over Newcastle has boosted their chances of claiming a top four spot, with the Merseyside club moving up to second in the Premier League table.
