Aston Villa sold Christian Benteke to Liverpool, while Tim Sherwood was in charge.

Sherwood was in charge of Villa when Benteke arguably enjoyed the best season of his career.
Benteke netted 13 Premier League goals during the 2014/15 campaign, which convinced Liverpool to move for him.
But Sherwood admits that, at the time, he was determined to try and keep Benteke at Villa.

Sherwood felt that sticking with Villa would have been the target man’s best option, but Benteke decided to pursue a move to Liverpool, which ultimately did not work out.
And Sherwood said: “I made a point to him that I wanted him to stay, but he’d done so well that Liverpool wanted to buy him. I tried to tell him to stay, score goals and get in his national team, but he decided he wanted to leave and he lost his way.”

Benteke is now at Crystal Palace, but he has failed to impress this season, with just two goals to his name.
The Daily Mail suggest that Palace could sell Benteke in the summer transfer window.
