Tim Krul was disappointed with Newcastle United’s defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday.
Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul has admitted his disappointment at the defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Magpies continued their underwhelming start to the New Year as they went down 2-0 to the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
Although Newcastle played and competed well in the first half, goals from Oscar and Diego Costa saw Chelsea pick up all three points.
Netherlands international custodian Krul, who made his return from injury in that match, was understandably disappointed with the final result.
However, the 26-year-old believes that the team can take some positives heading into their next game against Southampton at St. James’ Park.
Newcastle’s recent performances have not been good, but against Chelsea the players did step up.
Remy Cabella in particular looked very good, especially in the first half, and there are certainly reasons to be optimistic heading into the game against Southampton.
Newcastle are currently 10th in the Premier League table with 27 points from 21 matches, eight points above the relegation zone and 10 points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
