Tim Cahill has suggested that Everton need to sign big players in the summer transfer window in order to keep hold of Idrissa Gueye, as quoted in The Liverpool Echo.

According to The Liverpool Echo, French giants Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign the 29-year-old defensive midfielder in the January transfer window.

The London Evening Standard has claimed that Manchester United have identified the former Aston Villa star as a potential replacement for Ander Herrera, who is reported to join Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window.

Former Everton star Cahill has suggested that Gueye will have clubs interested in him, and has suggested how the Merseyside outfit can keep hold of the ex-Lille star.

The Liverpool Echo quotes Cahill as saying about Gueye: “He (Gueye) is a big part of Everton’s success. He is a brilliant player and every team needs someone like him. It’s just the way he goes about the park.

“Of course he is going to be in demand, but Everton have to attract big players to keep him at the club. He is going to hopefully be a big sign of what’s to come at Everton in the future.”

Everton stay

Gueye is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League outside the top six, and there is no surprise that United are interested in securing the services of the Senegal international.

Everton are a big and ambitious club, and the Toffees need to keep hold of their best players in order to progress and break into the top six in the coming years.

Gueye has been on the books of Everton since the summer of 2016 when he joined from Villa for a transfer fee reported by The Guardian to be worth £7.1 million.
