Tim Cahill back at Everton in six months?

Former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill is already discussing the possibility of a Goodison Park return.

So Landon Donovan may not be the only familiar face turning up back at Everton in January 2013.

Donovan has already completed two loan stints during the MLS off-season and nobody will be surprised for him to do the same next year.

Joining him may be the recently departed Tim Cahill, a modern day cult hero, who last week sealed a deal to New York Red Bulls.

He made his debut last night against Tottenham, and was impressive, winning a penalty to put the side 1-0 up, before they later succumbed 2-1.

The Liverpool Daily Post is today reporting the possibility that Cahill could rejoin Everton for a loan spell in the new year.

Cahill when asked about it was respectful to his new employers, stating his main focus was on the New York club, but added that he would be happy if something ‘could be worked out.’

New York permitted Thierry Henry to rejoin Arsenal for a loan spell last season, which went without a hitch, and Henry is tipped to head back for one final swansong at the Emirates again next season.

So you would imagine they would not stop Cahill heading back to Everton if the player indicated he was keen on it to keep his fitness levels up.

Cahill has spoken of his love for Everton, and while everything in the USA is new and exciting at present, you can bet he will be missing the Premier League soon and itching to get back to it if only for a couple of months next year.

With the signings of Steven Pienaar and Steven Naismith wrapped up, this summer is shaping up nicely for Everton, and the potential return of Cahill and Donovan is another reason to look forward to the season ahead.

Will Cahill come back in January? Is it a good idea?
