Tiger Woods recently revealed that he had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles and will miss The Masters this year, fans everywhere let out a collective sigh.
It’s remarkable how much Tiger has put his body through over the years. Most players would have retired after facing half of what the 15-time major champion has endured. Growing up, we rarely saw injuries sideline top golfers, much less force them into early retirement.
Even now, at an age where weekly competition is out of the question, the American golfer continues to hold out hope that he will return.

Just when it started to look like he might have finally caught a break and could play a few more events in 2025, the Achilles injury crushed those hopes. Now, he will likely miss the rest of the year – and fans have started to wonder what could prevent his retirement.
Charlie Woods could be the reason to Tiger’s career extension

The main current question is whether Woods will return at all. He turns 50 in December, so the Champions Tour will be an option.
Speaking on the 5 Clubs podcast, Brad Faxon pointed out that Tiger’s motivation to stay involved might be fuelled by his son’s development as a golfer.
“You asked me in the last question – my wife always kids me because I forget to answer questions sometimes – you asked about Tiger and will he play at Jack’s event, and the motivation these guys have.
“I look at Tiger now and his son Charlie who’s turned into a very, very good player and I can see Tiger extending the length he plays because of Charlie, like Mark O’Meara had his career extended because of Tiger. Having him to come out to play a US Senior Open would be incredible for the game of golf, not just for the Senior Tour”, said the ex-golfer.
The rumour concerning Tiger Woods and his plans for the Champions Tour
While the Champions Tour still features a high standard of play, it’s less physically demanding than the PGA Tour or the majors.
Rumours suggest that Woods could use a cart – which would make a significant difference for him – to play a full schedule on the Champions Tour.
If this is confirmed, it would be a huge boost for the tour itself and could also help the golf legend be ready for the major tournaments.
