Some Celtic and Arsenal fans are reacting on Twitter to an announcement by Rangers on Friday afternoon.

Rangers, the newly-crowned Premiership champions, revealed via their Twitter account a couple of days ago that they would be hosting Arsenal in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox on July 17.

And there’s an interesting subplot to this one and one that involves former Celtic star Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland international joined the Gunners from Celtic in a £25 million deal in the summer of 2019.

It goes without saying that Rangers and the Hoops are bitter Old Firm rivals – who play one another this afternoon in the Scottish Cup, incidentally – and here’s how some fans reacted on Twitter to the friendly, which is to mark the Gers’ 150th anniversary.

Unfortunately, Tierney may not even return to Ibrox for this one.

That’s because Euro 2020 will only be over for six days prior to Arsenal meeting Rangers and if the 23-year-old may still be on holiday after Scotland’s campaign.

That being said, Tierney, who began his career at Celtic, faces a race against time to be fit for Steve Clarke’s side for the summer competition and is currently injured.
