Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are interested in signing Tiago Tomas from Sporting Lisbon, according to TMW.

What’s the story?

It has been reported by TMW that Arsenal are ‘crazy’ about the Portugal Under-21 international.

The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that AS Roma are also keen on the 19-year-old forward.

Sporting are not going to sell the teenager in the January transfer window.

The attacker himself is not desperate to leave now.

However, a transfer could happen next summer.

What will Arsenal get?

Tomas is a very highly rated attacker who has broken into the Sporting first team.

The 19-year-old has been compared to Kylian Mbappe and fellow Portuguese and Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

In fact, as reported by O Jogo, the teenager broke Ronaldo’s record last season.

As we covered the report here on HITC Sport at the time, Ronaldo scored five goals in his breakthrough season at Sporting in 2002-03.

Tomas scored six goals last season.

Former Sporting star Manuel Fernandes has described Tomas as a striker who not only plays in the box, but he is also “a mobile forward”.

The youngster’s agent, Carlos Goncalves, has been quoted as saying by Goal that he “has a lot of strength and technique”, is “strong” and “is able to find space very easily”.
