West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to the rumours that they are set to offer Chelsea striker, Olivier Giroud, a contract.

Eurosport claim that West Ham have a long-standing interest in Giroud’s services and they will put a contract on the table for his services when his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires next month.

West Ham were already light in the striker department and given that they are now in Europe, the need to bring in another number nine needs to be fast-tracked and perhaps more than one needs to walk through the doors.

At the age of 34, Giroud is still one of the most underrated strikers in the Premier League and a player who could bring immense quality to this thriving West Ham side.

Mikel Arteta, who played alongside the technically-gifted Frenchman, labelled him a ‘real fighter’ in 2020, as he told Arsenal’s official website.

Such a mentality would be more than welcome in East London, especially to this transformed West Ham side under the highly demanding, David Moyes.

Some West Ham fans are excited about the prospect of bringing Giroud’s qualities to their club, whereas others aren’t entertaining the thought of bringing someone coming to the end of their career.

Either way, number 9’s are in order at the London Stadium and when one, with Giroud’s skills, is available on a free then this West Ham board have shown over the years that they like such deals.

Here is a selection of West Ham fans reacting to the Giroud rumours:
