Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi have been speaking to The Athletic about their work at Newcastle so far, and their future plans.

Interestingly, Ghodoussi shared plans for a world-class training ground on Tyneside, in news that should seriously excite the Toon Army.

What’s the story?

Well, The Athletic believe Staveley and Ghodoussi are currently looking for sites to construct the state-of-the-art training ground.

Ghodoussi added: “That will probably take three years, maybe a little bit more.”

What a time to be a Newcastle fan.

At the moment, Little Benton is in desperate need of a revamp, as it has seemingly been neglected by Mike Ashley for many years.

When watching Bruno Guimarães walk around Little Benton to meet his new teammates, the site resembled that of a dingy school with bleak, dim corridors.

If Newcastle are to lure the likes of Kylian Mbappe and others to Tyneside one day, the training facilities need a huge revamp.

Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi can make Newcastle unrecognisable

It’s very encouraging to hear that Staveley and Ghodoussi are focussing on the infrastructure at Newcastle, not just the playing staff.

Of course, the players are the most important aspect of any football club, as they’re the ones who win points at the end of the day.

However, players come and go, but facilities remain in place and shape the foundations of a football club for the future.

While Staveley and Ghodoussi are at Newcastle, it’s vital that things such as the stadium, training ground and academy are given a makeover.
