The name Hamza Barry may not mean a lot to many, but he could have been in a Premier League player in the not-too-distant past.

Barry, 26, impressed in Malta, Cyprus and Israel before heading to Hajduk Split in 2017, which is where he started to attract interest.

The all-action midfielder featured against Everton in the Europa League, and as he saw teammate Nikola Vlasic earn a move to Goodison Park, he was also on their radar.

The Sun reported in November 2017 that Barry was wanted by Everton in a £5million deal, with Steve Walsh seemingly a fan.

West Ham United were also keen under David Moyes, but Barry failed to make a move to the Premier League – and his golden chance may have now gone.

The 23-cap Gambia international is currently rehabbing from a major knee injury, and his Hajduk Split contract ended this past summer without renewal.

Barry now finds himself as a free agent, and told 24 Sata last month that he won’t be returning to Hajduk, seemingly believing that he can earn a move elsewhere.

Everton and West Ham have likely moved on and won’t be looking at Barry now, and as he seeks a new club, he may be regretting missing out on a big move to England three years ago.
