After last night’s victory over Blackburn Rovers, has Garry Monk finally found the winning formula at Leeds United?

Monk, who was appointed as Massimo Cellino’s latest head coach in the summer, faced speculation over his future just six league games into his tenure after a 1-0 home defeat by West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town left Leeds in the Sky Bet Championship bottom three.

But two victories over Blackburn Rovers either side of a 2-0 win at Cardiff have kick-started Leeds’ season.

Albeit the three victories have come against the bottom two sides in the Championship in Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City, but it’s a starting block for Monk to build on and will breed confidence for his team.

Given how successful he was his stint in charge of former side Swansea City, many of the Elland Road supporters would’ve expected a bright start to the campaign. Although the job on hand to transform this Leeds side to Championship yo-yo boys to a genuine threat to find their way back to the top flight.

What next for Leeds and Monk?
Before the international break Leeds have Ipswich Town and Barnsley at home with a trip to Bristol City sandwiched between the two.

With Leeds coming into those three bouts in the best form they’ve been in so far this season, it’s a genuine chance to build on the momentum they already have and to start looking upwards rather than what’s happening below them.

Monk will know the importance of making the most of playing at Elland Road in the next ten days with Ipswich and Barnsley the visitors, especially considering they’ve only won once at home in the league all season.
