A recent report from CalcioMercato has suggested that Leeds striker Chris Wood is attracting West Ham’s attention after a stunning season in the Championship.

While Leeds will be desperate to keep hold of the New Zealander after his scintillating campaign, they will know that if the offers come in, it will be extremely difficult to deny him a Premier League move.

If West Ham are the club that look likely to win the race for his signature, perhaps the Whites could look to target one of their players as part of any potential deal.

With that in mind, here is a look at three Hammers players Leeds should consider pursuing if, at any stage, Wood looks destined for the London Stadium…

West Ham United’s Ashley Fletcher

Ashley Fletcher has been on Leeds’ radar for a while now and appeared to be close to joining the club on loan during the January transfer window (via Daily Mail). As Wood’s departure would leave a major void to fill up front, signing a striker would definitely be a very wise move.

Sam Byram

It may seem like an odd choice but Leeds could do a lot worse than target former player Sam Byram, despite the depth they boast at right-back. With Charlie Taylor’s contract expiring this summer, Gaetano Berardi is likely to be needed more often on the left, meaning more cover could be required for the likes of Luke Ayling and Lewie Coyle.

His primary position however, if he were to return could perhaps be on the right wing where he was exceptional shortly before his departure.

Reece Oxford

It may perhaps be unlikely following the recent incident between Oxford and Liam Cooper in Leeds’ defeat to Reading, but Leeds should at least try to bring the youngster in on loan because he would be an excellent addition to the Whites’ defence.

They are in desperate need of additional depth – especially with Kyle Bartley only at Elland Road on loan – and it would not be out of the question to suggest that Oxford would actually leap ahead of Cooper in the pecking order were he to join.
