The goalkeeper has flattered to deceive all season and, here, he was beaten at his near post within minutes at Tottenham Hotspur.
Not only did the Aston Villa goalkeeper look weak when faced with an opposition shot, he also struggled with his kicking and Remi Garde would have been worried with what he saw of his shot stopper.
Ciaran Clark
As Jamie Carragher stated on Sky Sports at half-time, Joleon Lescott did not cover his partner at centre-back during Tottenham’s opener.
But Clark was still at fault as Mousa Dembele brushed him aside with real ease. Aston Villa fans would have been hoping for an imposing performance from the 26-year-old, who could potentially replace Lescott when Micah Richards is back.
Like most of the Villa side, however, Clark went into hiding against Spurs.
Gabriel Agbonlahor
Once again, arguably the worst of the lot. Kevin MacDonald would have learned a valuable lesson on Monday night: never start Agbonlahor, especially as a lone front man.
The Aston Villa forward was berated by the Sky Sports pundits during the break and was subsequently hooked by MacDonald at half-time. Agbonlahor’s 45-minute showing included just eight touches and absolutely no influence on the game…
