According to Fabrizio Romano, Takumi Minamino is in talks with three unnamed clubs about a potential transfer this summer.
The Japanese attacker will be leaving Liverpool in the coming weeks, and there are no shortage of suitors for Minamino’s signature.
Romano didn’t name the three clubs that are in for the ‘brilliant’ attacker, but, in our view, Leeds United will surely be one of the sides in the mix for Minamino.
Leeds have been strongly linked with the Liverpool ace in the past. In fact, it was widely reported that the Whites had made a bid for Minamino in January, and it stands to reason to believe that their interest will have only grown since then.
Of course, Leeds aren’t the same team they were in January. Marcelo Bielsa has gone and Jesse Marsch has arrived, but that should only increase the Whites’ interest in the Liverpool ace.
Indeed, Marsch is a manager that knows Minamino very well. The pair worked together at RB Salzburg, and a reunion could be on the cards at Elland Road.
With Raphinha and Jack Harrison both being linked with moves away from the club, space may well open up for Minamino, and if Marsch wants to fully transition to his favoured 4-2-2-2 system, he’d certainly benefit from having a player who knows how to play in his style.
It remains to be seen where Minamino ends up or who goes in for him, but don’t be too shocked if Leeds United are one of the teams that are currently in discussions with the attacker about his next move.
