Adrian
The Spaniard had been West Ham’s number one goalkeeper for three years prior to being displaced by Darren Randolph midway through last season, and now Joe Hart. He rarely let the Irons down.
Hart’s performances have been indifferent since his loan move from Manchester City and yet he preserves his place on little but reputation. Giving Adrian a chance may bring out the best in Hart if nothing else.
Sam Byram
The 24-year-old has not yet developed into the Premier League regular that West Ham were hoping he would become when they signed him from Leeds United in January 2016, making only 15 top-flight starts and none this term.
Pablo Zabaleta has probably been West Ham’s best player this season, but the balance of the team could benefit if he was shifted inside to solidify the leaky back three, giving Byram an opportunity to impress at right-back.
Diafra Sakho
After going to such lengths to prevent the Frenchman from leaving in the summer, as the Daily Mail reports, you’d have thought West Ham would have made better use of Sakho, who has not started in the league in 2017.
A partnership of Andy Carroll and Javier Hernandez looks good on paper, but neither of them have been firing and yet Sakho, who has been scoring for club and country when giving the opportunity, remains rooted to the bench.
