Tottenham Hotspur and Borussia Dortmund go head-to-head this week.

Tottenham Hotspur kick off their Champions League campaign with a home match against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening, and while ‘home’ is the temporary base of Wembley, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will be hoping to make a statement against the Bundesliga giants.
Many of Tottenham’s players will feel they have a point to prove after not always performing to their best on Europe’s biggest stage, but here we take a look at three Spurs stars who could make a massive statement in midweek.
Davinson Sanchez
Tottenham surprised many when they made a club-record bid for Davinson Sanchez having seemingly struggled for much of the transfer window, yet on early evidence the Colombian international is a superstar in the making.
Performing well against Everton is one thing, but keeping Dortmund’s prolific forward line at bay is quite another, and if Sanchez does that he will prove his credentials sooner than some expected.
He already has a Europa League final appearance to his name and he will be hoping to add a Champions League one in due course.

Harry Winks
With Dele Alli suspended and Heung-min Son not yet match fit, Harry Winks could get the chance to start behind Harry Kane and the 21-year-old has the skill set to excel against Dortmund.
He may not be one of the first names on the team sheet just yet, but in time Winks can become a Tottenham great, and as he showed in a cameo against CSKA Moscow last season, he possesses the confidence on the ball to calm his more experienced teammates at the end of tight encounters.

Harry Kane
It may seem crazy to put Kane’s name on this list considering he has scored 101 goals for Tottenham despite still being only 24, but the England international is yet to really make his mark on Europe’s elite competition.
He scored his first Champions League goals against AS Monaco and CSKA Moscow prior to the club’s elimination last season and if he can build on his weekend brace with another couple against Dortmund, it will show he can score against the best on the continent, not just England’s finest.
