A look at how Nottingham Forest could look to benefit from their manager’s friendship with the Tottenham Hotspur boss.
Phillippe Montanier
Nottingham Forest boss Phillippe Montanier has told French publication So Foot of his good relationship with Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Montanier said he was invited to watch Tottenham train back in March while he was out of work, and found the experience intriguing to see how the highly rated Argentine works.
This could be a connection which pays dividends for Nottingham Forest, if they can strike a deal for any Tottenham players, most likely on loan.
Here are three players they should be targeting…
Shayon Harrison
Tottenham’s Shayon Harrison
Shayon Harrison is one of the most highly rated players in Tottenham’s academy, and could really make a name for himself at Nottingham Forest.
Harrison is a striker who has been prolific for Tottenham’s youth teams, and featured in the pre-season friendly against Juventus as a substitute this week.
The teenager could provide a spark up front to take the pressure off Britt Assombalonga, and could hardly fare worse than Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom during his spell at the City Ground.
Dominic Ball
Rangers’ Dominic Ball celebrates at the end of the match
Spurs centre-back Dominic Ball impressed on loan at Rangers last season, who are keen to bring him back.
The youngster will want to carry on his momentum gained at Ibrox one way or another rather than going back to to playing under-21 football, and Forest could offer a fresh challenge.
The Championship is of a higher standard than the Scottish league and this would be a good next step in Ball’s career.
Grant Ward

Midfielder Grant Ward is highly rated by Spurs, being handed a new contract back in January.
The 21-year-old has experience in the Championship already, being a regular at Rotherham United last season while on loan.
His chances at Spurs this season appear limited, so another loan switch is the best option, and he could provide vital competition in central midfield at Nottingham Forest.
