Sergio Reguilon is expected to join Tottenham from Real Madrid in the coming days.
The Evening Standard report he has had his Spurs medical at the training ground ahead of the move.
But which members of the current squad would be impacted when the move is confirmed? We’ve picked out three…
Danny Rose
Rose already looked to be on his way out of Tottenham. He’s without a shirt number and training away from the first team.
Genoa beckons, as per the Mirror, and Reguilon’s arrival is the final nail in the coffin.
Tottenham’s longest serving player is being shuffled out the back door, almost forgotten about as the supporters get excited about the new man.
Rose will hope to rediscover his best form in Italy to get himself back into Gareth Southgate’s England plans ahead of Euro 2021.
Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings
- Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
£15 million; Southampton
- Joe Hart
Free
- Matt Doherty
£13 million; Wolves
- Sergio Reguilon
£25 million; Real Madrid
- Gareth Bale
Loan; Real Madrid
- Carlos Vinicius
Loan; Benfica
- Joe Rodon
£12 million; Swansea
Ryan Sessegnon
Reguilon’s arrival greatly reduces the prospect of Sessegnon getting gametime at left back.
It hasn’t really clicked for the Englishman since his £25 million (BBC) move to Spurs last summer.
Perhaps a loan deal would be best to allow him to get some gametime on a regular basis.
Alternatively, he could be an option on the wing, but that is another position in which Tottenham are well-stocked, especially if Gareth Bale signs on the dotted line.

Paulo Gazzaniga
The Times report that Gazzaniga is among the players who will be sold in order to fund the deal. Juan Foyth is also in that list.
Joe Hart looks to be Jose Mourinho’s new second choice goalkeeper, so it makes sense for Gazzaniga to leave.
Although it does feel a harsh turn of events for a goalkeeper who deputised ably for Hugo Lloris at times last season.
Spurs are right on the limit in terms of their homegrown quota, so it’s not surprising that a foreign-born deputy such as Gazzaniga could make way for Reguilon.
