Tottenham Hotspur may need to sell before they can buy this summer, meaning some recent additions

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping to go further in the Champions League next season

It’s been another positive season for Tottenham, who aren’t out of the title race yet and look set to smash their previous highest Premier League points tally.

However if they are to challenge both domestically and in Europe next year, all whilst playing away from White Hart Lane, Mauricio Pochettino may need to add one or two players of real quality to his squad.

With that in mind, here are three first team players who look surplus to requirements and thus could well be sold to accommodate new men this summer.

Moussa Sissoko

Spending £30 million (Sky Sports) on a player who was coming off the back of a disappointing season for Newcastle looked like a lazy, unwise decision at the time and that’s what it has proved to be.

He’s not featured much despite the hefty price tag, making only one league start in 2017, has been poor when he has played and isn’t suited to Pochettino’s high-tempo brand of football.

Tottenham should probably exercise a bit more due diligence the next time they bring in a player for a record fee.

Kevin Wimmer

The Austrian has been played with increasing scarcity this campaign and you have to wonder how content he is with being well down the pecking order at centre-back.

Eric Dier has played their more and more of late, meaning even when Spurs play three at the back Wimmer is left on the bench.

Squad depth is important so Tottenham may well want to keep him, but he seems far from at the forefront of Pochettino’s thinking.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou

He catches the eye with his searing pace but, given he has made only two starts all season and both of those came in domestic cups, he’s clearly not got the trust of his manager.

At 22 he still has tome to develop, but like Clinton N’Jie before him the signing hasn’t come off and that development looks like it will be taking place away from Tottenham.
