The Glasgow Rangers forward has been linked with a move to Sunderland and the Gers should discuss certain players heading in the other direction.
According to a recent report from the Daily Mail, Sunderland are one of the club’s interested in signing Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn this summer, and assuming the 27-year-old does leave Ibrox for the Stadium of Light, there are a few Black Cats players the Scottish side could ask for in return.
Here we take a look at three Sunderland players that Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha would be wise to consider in any deal that took Waghorn back to his former club:
Donald Love
Scottish defender Donald Love has been in and out of the Sunderland side this season and Rangers would be smart to at least see if the Black Cats would be willing to sanction a deal.
He was highly rated at Manchester United and at 22 will want to be playing week in, week out.
Seb Larsson
Rangers need more quality in the centre of the park and Seb Larsson would offer them that.
He may have failed to replicate his best form during Sunderland’s latest relegation battle but he has the innate talent to take the Scottish Premiership by storm.
Lee Connolly
Young striker Lee Connolly may have only signed for Sunderland last summer, but Rangers would be wise to try to make it second time lucky for the teenager after missing out on him prior to his switch to the Stadium of Light.
Formerly of Queens Park, Connolly was wanted by Rangers and Celtic prior to his move (as reported by the Daily Record) and the Gers may seek to replace Waghorn with a much younger model.
