Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has claimed that Dani Ceballos will never play for Arsenal again after his dismal showing in the Europa League.

The Spaniard put in what could only be described as a torrid showing against Villarreal on Thursday. He was sent off, but even before his red card he was chasing shadows.

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Ceballos has let the team down, and Campbell believes his time is up at Arsenal.

“He’s a luxury player, he’s good on the ball at times, but tracking people, he was giving fouls away, he made Foyth look like Cafu, it was ridiculous, and you see it in the second-half, as soon as he went off everything changed, there was more calm in the team.

“The opposition notice the weakness in our team and the weakness was Ceballos, and when they spot that weakness, they are going to drive right through it.”

“Do you think he’s going to play another game for Arsenal before going back to Real Madrid? I don’t think he played another game because he’s made two hellacious mistakes in the Europa League and he made it a trifecta with this red card,” Campbell’s co-host said

“No, I don’t think so, three strikes and you’re done,” Campbell replied.

Fabrizio Romano claimed earlier this week that Ceballos will be going back to Madrid rather than staying at Arsenal beyond this summer, so Campbell may be right.

Of course, injuries and suspensions could see the Gunners forced into giving the Spaniard one more chance, but it seems as though he’s not going to be the first name on the teamsheet going forward.
