Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga is heavily linked with a move to Middlesbrough.

According to a report in The Sun, Middlesbrough are ready to meet Nottingham Forest’s £15 million asking price for Britt Assombalonga.

In this article we look at three strikers Forest should consider snapping up, if they do part ways with their most clinical forward.

Benik Afobe (Bournemouth)

Bournemouth's Benik Afobe in action

Afobe has struggled to show his top form since moving to the Premier League back in January 2016.

The former Arsenal man has not truly found his feet at Bournemouth, but he has previously been a prolific scorer at Championship level.

If Forest do lose Assombalonga replacing his goals would be tough, but Afobe has proven to have the capabilities to be a leading marksman in the Championship during a spell with Wolves earlier in his career.

Lee Gregory (Millwall)

Gregory was a vital part of Millwall’s side who got promoted last term, and looks to have the capabilities to be a threat in the second tier.

Forest have shown they are willing to take risks on players with big potential since Mark Warburton took charge, and Gregory could fit that mould.

Cameron Jerome (Norwich City)

Norwich's Cameron Jerome scores their first goal

Tried, tested and available – Jerome would arguably be Forest’s safest option, if they did want to replace Assombalonga’s goalscoring threat.
