Tottenham Hotspur drew 0-0 against Liverpool at White Hart Lane.
Mousa Dembele
The Tottenham midfielder was under pressure going into the Liverpool clash – make no mistake. The 28-year-old wasn’t going to get a better chance to showcase his talents but that was exactly what he did as pundits and fans alike gushed over the Belgian’s display.
Dembele won tackles, interceptions and beat opposition players with the ball at his feet. All this was done with considerable ease. It’s unclear whether the Spurs man has done enough to turn Mauricio Pochettino away from regulars Ryan Mason, Dele Alli and Eric Dier. This, however, was a fine performance nevertheless.
Clinton Njie
It’s no coincidence that Tottenham sprung to life when young Njie replaced Nacer Chadli after 20 minutes or so. Chadli actually went off injured but it was almost as if Pochettino had made a tactical change against Liverpool.
Njie almost scored for the north London side and was very lively indeed in the final third. Surely the Cameroonian will be in line for a start ahead of Chadli next time around.
Christian Eriksen
While Njie and Dembele staked their claim for a first-team place, regular starter Eriksen also impressed for Tottenham against Jurgen Klopp’s men.
No one created more chances than the Dane and he was always going to be a threat from set-pieces. Spurs couldn’t break Liverpool’s back four but they were thwarted by excellent defending from Mamadou Sakho and superb goalkeeping from Simon Mignolet.
Eriksen looks as though he could once again hit top form very soon.
