West Ham United recorded an impressive victory over Burnley on Saturday and they could use it as a platform to build towards a top-six finish next season.
West Ham United’s Andre Ayew celebrates scoring their second goal with team mates
West Ham United’s 2-1 victory away to Burnley, courtesy of goals from the impressive Sofiane Feghouli and Andre Ayew, looked more in keeping with what the Hammers’ fans were hoping for following their move to the London Stadium.
The Hammers were impressive throughout and completely controlled the game in the second half to see out a comfortable victory.
The performance of Slaven Bilic’s men has proven they have the quality in their side to be much further up the table than they are already, with Feghouli being particularly impressive.
They do however, have room for improvement, and here are three signings that West Ham should sign in order to propel the side to a top-six challenge.
Michael Keane – Centre-back
Michael Keane has been impressive for Burnley this season, prompting interest from a number of clubs as the summer transfer window fast approaches.
The 24-year-old is assured in his defending and strong in the air, as well as being confident in possession.
He would be a strong starter alongside the experience of Winston Reid or Jose Fonte and would go a long way to strengthening what has been, at times this season, a poor defensive unit.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – Attacking-Midfielder/Winger
Gylfi Sigurdsson has been the hero of Swansea City’s survival this season, scoring nine goals and assisting 13 as he played every league game.
The Iceland international would add the brilliant set-piece threat and delivery from crosses that the Hammers have lacked since the departure of Dimitri Payet.
The 27-year-old could form a formidable partnership with Manuel Lanzini to add more creativity and flair to the West Ham’s struggling attack force.

Kelechi Iheanacho – Forward
West Ham have struggled in attack this season with Andy Carroll being in and out of the side through injury and the likes of Andre Ayew and Diafra Sakho not providing the necessary threat when leading the front line; and Manchester City’s Kelechi Iheanacho could provide the answer.
Iheanacho has found his playing time limited this season following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus, playing just 525 minutes in his 20 Premier League appearances this season.
The talented 20-year-old looks likely to look for first team football away from the Etihad this summer and he would be a great signing for Slaven Bilic’s side, with his pace and assured ability on the ball adding an extra dimension to the Hammers attack, as well as a threat on the break.
