After signing Vincent Janssen and Victor Wanyama Tottenham’s squad looks in good shape, but the possibility of another attacking addition remains.

Three of the most heavily-linked options – by the likes of the Daily Mail – are Georginio Wijnaldum, Yunus Malli and Sofiane Boufal.

We’ve compared some of their league stats from last season to see exactly who Spurs could be about to add to their ranks.

The stats suggest a clear profile is being targeted, with all three players grabbing an impressive 11 goals and a similar number of assists.

Yet, when the numbers are looked at more closely, there are some indications that Boufal is the standout option.

The Frenchman achieved roughly the same number of goals and assists as the other candidates but did so in considerably less game time. He created around 40% more chances for his team-mates than Wijnaldum and Malli and completed more than double the amount of successful dribbles than those two managed.

At 22-years old, Boufal is also the youngest of the three – Wijnaldum is 25 and Malli is 24 – and so would fit into the ethos of Spurs under Mauricio Pochettino.

He does however, ply his trade in Ligue 1 and it is debatable whether or not that is more competitive than the Bundesliga, where Malli plays for FC Mainz.

Wijnaldum’s major advantage is the fact that he has Premier League experience under his belt but this, of course, comes at a cost and if the reports of a £25 million valuation are true then it is unlikely Tottenham will be willing to meet it.

Malli and Boufal will both command smaller fees and it remains to be seen what criteria the Lilywhites will prioritise in their bid to add quality to their attack.
