The Whites are in a great place at this moment in time, and even if promotion doesn’t come, there’s a lot to look forward to.
Leeds manager Garry Monk talks to Pontus Jansson
Leeds United fans will be counting down the days until the international break is over, as their club are sitting very pretty in fourth position in the Championship table, and seem set for a play-off chance.
With just eight games to go, the future is looking bright for Leeds fans – but even if the club don’t get promoted this season, there’s cause for optimism. Here are three reasons why that is the case.
Garry Monk
Leeds made a gamble by taking Monk into the club after his up and down spell with his beloved Swansea City, with it looking at one point that the Swans would go down under Monk unless they took action – which they duly did. However, with Leeds looking a great bet for promotion, it’s a gamble that’s paying off, and that’s down to Monk and how he’s set the side up. Leeds are playing an entertaining style of football, while remaining solid at the back – which makes for good watching, and with Monk at the helm, this will only continue.

The off field fiasco has stopped
Under previous owner Massimo Cellino, Leeds had sacked six managers in two years and banned the number 17 due to the erratic Italian’s superstitions, becoming a laughing stock in the process. However, in Cellino’s defence, he’s seemingly held his hands up and agreed he’s handled the club in an incorrect manner, and sold 50% of the club to Italian businessman Andrea Radrizzani, as reports BBC Sport, and the club seems a lot more stable as a result. It’s no coincidence that the stability has coincided with the team doing well on the pitch, and this will only continue to grow while off field matters remain being handled in a sensible manner.
The fans feel they have their Leeds back
As a result of the continued off the field drama, many Whites fans had grown sick of the club and protested against the regime – and a stuttering team – with their feet. Since Monk turned up however, the disillusioned Leeds fans – so sick of the doldrums and off the field mayhem – have fallen in love with their side all over again. It’s well known that Leeds have some of the best fans in the Championship, and they’re certainly proving why now they’ve got something to chant about, and that level of support can only help the Whites at a time where they’re so close to greatness.
