Trezeguet took a while to get used to life at Aston Villa but he came up trumps in the closing weeks of the season.
Three goals in Villa’s last two home matches of the season sealed vital victories against Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
That helped Dean Smith’s earn another year in the Premier League, where the Egyptian will have the chance to shine in the top flight once again.
We’ve got three reasons he can carry on where he left off at the end of last season…
Settled second season
It’s not uncommon for players to take a year to adjust to the Premier League.
Getting used to a new club, country and style of football is difficult and many players improve in their second season in the top flight.
That’s where Trezeguet is at now and he looked fully settled and happy towards the end of last season.

Villa should increase firepower
According to the BBC, Villa have agreed a fee to sign Ollie Watkins from Brentford for a club-record fee.
The presence of a reliable goal-getter up front should help Trezeguet.
It will give him someone to link up with, and Watkins’ pace should drag defenders away, offering the Egyptian some extra space.
Watkins would also be a target for Trezeguet in the box – provided he signs on the dotted line – which could get his assists tally up.

Work ethic
Trezeguet was quoted by Goal at the end of the season attributing his contribution to Villa’s escape to hard work.
“Hard work always pays off,” he said. And he will need to graft once again to take his game to the next level for Villa.
His comments indicate he’s not the type to score a couple of goals and slacken off, which bodes well for the coming campaign.
