Danny Rose wants to move abroad from Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to the Sun.

Rose spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle and episode five of Tottenham Hotspur: All or Nothing showed a heated exchange between him and Jose Mourinho from before he was moved on.

We’ve got three reasons why Tottenham’s longest serving player leaving the club this summer would be a good idea.

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer signings

  1. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

    £15 million; Southampton

  2. Joe Hart

    Free

  3. Matt Doherty

    £13 million; Wolves

  4. Sergio Reguilon

    £25 million; Real Madrid

  5. Gareth Bale

    Loan; Real Madrid

  6. Carlos Vinicius

    Loan; Benfica

  7. Joe Rodon

    £12 million; Swansea

He’s already been frozen out

The report also says Rose is being asked to train away from the rest of Spurs’ first team squad.

That hardly suggests he’s part of Mourinho’s plans for the new season.

There’s no point having a senior pro like Rose training with the kids. It’s better for all concerned that he gets a clean break.

Promote the youth

Ben Davies is Mourinho’s established first choice left back, and the backup choice doesn’t need to be a senior international.

It would be better if Ryan Sessegnon or Dennis Cerkin were used as cover.

They should get valuable gametime in a season which is going to be hectic and physically demanding.

Contract dwindling

Rose only has a year left on his current contract and this summer represents one of Tottenham’s two final opportunities to get a transfer fee for him.

In January, Rose will be free to negotiate a free transfer for the end of 2020/21 with clubs overseas.

So it’s in Daniel Levy’s best interests to sell him now, for whatever fee he can get.

For Rose himself, he needs to be playing games if he wants to get back into England’s plans.

He watched on from home as right back Kieran Trippier played on the left of a back five in the 0-0 draw against Iceland last night.
