Glasgow Rangers need a new permanent boss and their caretaker appointment is doing a fine job.
Pedro Caixinha’s Ibrox exit came as no big surprise given Rangers’ hit-and-miss start to the new Scottish Premiership campaign, but caretaker manager Graeme Murty wasted little time stamping his own mark on the team and there are some Gers players who will be desperate for him to take the role full-time.
Here we take a look at three Rangers players who would benefit from the 42-year-old being named as the club’s next long-term boss:
Danny Wilson
Centre-back Danny Wilson had watched on as summer signings Fabio Cardoso and Bruno Alves played week in, week out over the last few months, with the 25-year-old managing only two brief appearances at the start of the campaign.
However, Murty’s appointment has seen the previously criticised Rangers man start their last two matches and he has not looked out of place.
Ross McCrorie
The jewel in Rangers’ crown, Ross McCrorie was starting to make waves under Caixinha but could reach new heights under the guidance of Murty.
He may only be 19, however the centre-back is the real deal and should not be shunted aside for bigger names – something that could happen if another man takes the helm.
Jason Holt
The biggest success story of all since Murty’s latest temporary stint, Jason Holt has looked like a player reborn in recent games.
Previously consigned to the scrapheap, the 24-year-old could actually be one of Rangers’ most important players this season if he is given the chance.
