Leeds United have been linked with a move for Glasgow Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn, but perhaps some of his Ibrox teammates should be on their radar instead.

A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Leeds were one of the clubs that were interested in signing Rangers striker Martyn Waghorn in the summer.
But while Waghorn enjoyed an excellent first year with the Gers, there are arguably other players in Pedro Caixinha’s squad that the Whites should target instead given how the striker has endured a much less impressive year in the Scottish Premiership this term.
With that in mind, here are three players that Leeds should arguably pursue instead of the forward…
Jon Toral
Jon Toral is currently on loan at Ibrox from Arsenal. He will be no stranger to Leeds fans, having played for Brentford and Birmingham in the Championship. He has threatened to be a special player in that attacking midfield role and arguably showed a first glimpse of that for Rangers at the weekend. He would bring some additional creativity to the Whites side.

Barrie McKay
Perhaps the least likely of the trio to be signed by Leeds in any kind of deal is Barrie McKay, as he was linked with a £6 million move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in January (via Daily Record), so it would certainly be a gamble for the Whites to make a move given how much it would probably cost. On his day, McKay is a brilliant winger, capable of causing all sorts of problems, but his inconsistency means that he has frustrated the Ibrox faithful on a number of occasions.
Emerson Hyndman
Like Toral, Emerson Hyndman is on loan at Rangers, having joined from Bournemouth in January. He has arguably been the Gers’ best player since the end of the last window and Light Blues supporters would surely love to keep him beyond this season in any way they can. On the ball, he boasts a tremendous amount of talent in the middle of the park so would perhaps be the perfect addition to Leeds’ cluster of midfield options.
