Cristiano Ronaldo stunned the football world this week when news of his desire to leave Real Madrid was reported by BBC Sport.

Ronaldo is claimed to be frustrated at having his tax affairs scrutinised and is determined to leave Spain.

It didn’t take long for rumours of a Manchester United return to fire up, although it’s not surprising.

Ronaldo has always spoken highly of United and their fans since leaving, and it’s hard to imagine him wanting to play for any other English side.

The whole Premier League would be on notice if Ronaldo returned, but some teams would have reason to be more fearful than others.

Who has the worst record against Ronaldo?

Three current Premier League teams have dismal records against the three time Ballon d’Or winner.

Tottenham Hotspur have conceded the most goals courtesy of the former United superstar, allowing him to score past them eight times.

Arsenal and Newcastle United follow, having conceded six goals each against Ronaldo.

The English team with the worst record vs Ronaldo is Aston Villa, who have allowed nine goals, and are now no longer in the Premier League.

Fulham and Wigan have conceded six each and Bolton and Portsmouth six.

Yet that compares favourably with Spanish side Sevilla, who have allowed 25 goals to Ronaldo in 17 games.

Tottenham have the Premier League’s best defence, but that could be seriously tested if Ronaldo does make a blockbuster return to Old Trafford.
