Following a two week international break, the Premier League returns next weekend and managers of Manchester United, Swansea and Sunderland will be hoping for a big result.
The Premier League finally returns next weekend, with all 20 teams in action. As it stands, Manchester City are top of the table, with Tottenham behind in second.
Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino will be more than happy with the starts their sides have had, while others will be disappointed with how their teams have performed and eager to get a good result as soon as possible.
Here are three managers who need to pick up a win next weekend:
Jose Mourinho
Four games into the league and Manchester United carried a 100% win record under new manager Jose Mourinho. The Red Devils’ unbeaten record came to an end after a defeat to rivals Manchester City. Since then, United have dropped points and slowly slipped down the table. With 11 games in, United sit in sixth place.
There was plenty of expectation that Mourinho would have had a better start at United; a defeat to Watford and draw to struggling Stoke has been an eye-opener for Mourinho – making him realise that he has got a lot of work to do before he can be called the ‘Special one’ again.
Will United beat Liverpool?
United will travel to Anfield to face rivals Liverpool on Monday 17th October. All eyes will be on Mourinho to see if his side can deliver, and the pressure especially on the 53-year-old manager. If United want to be considered as serious title contenders then they have to beat Liverpool. The fixture will not be easy, Jurgen Klopp’s team are in terrific form and will go into this game as favourites.
Bob Bradley
Bob Bradley has had no previous experience in the Premier League
Bob Bradley will take charge of his first game as Swansea manager next Saturday, with the American boss replacing sacked Francesco Guidolin on Monday. The appointment is a huge risk for the Swans, the Welsh side currently sit 17th in the league – just above the relegation zone.
Bradley will have to prove any doubters wrong by bringing success to Swansea and succeeding in the task of keeping the Swans in the Premier League. Bradley couldn’t have wished for a tougher start, with the Swans travelling to the Emirates to face Arsenal. Despite the tough fixture, Bradley has to try and get some kind of result against the Gunners, and Swansea have some form at the Emirates in recent years.
David Moyes
Since joining Sunderland in the summer, David Moyes has had a dreadful start at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland are bottom of the table with just two points. The Black Cats are still without a win under Moyes. Fans will hope that the international break will have given the Scottish manager enough time to put confidence back in the players that have stayed in Sunderland this week.
The Wearsiders will travel to Stoke next Saturday, the Potters are also without a win this season. Both teams and managers will be desperate to get their first win of the new term.
