James Tarkowkski is a target for West Ham this summer, but the Guardian report Burnley want £50 million for the defender.

In the current climate, West Ham don’t look like paying that kind of money for anyone.

So we’ve picked out three potential targets from recent reports who could actually be affordable and give David Moyes the defensive reinforcements he sorely needs.

Wesley Fofana

According to Sky Sports, the Hammers have already bid £33 million for the defender.

They claim West Ham face competition from Leicester, who still haven’t spent big to replace Harry Maguire yet.

Fofana is a teenager with a big future, and currently plies his trade for Saint Etienne in Ligue 1.

The report also says Fofana has told his club he wants to move on, and Moyes will hope to capitalise on that.

Joe Rodon

The Guardian claim Wales international Rodon is a target for West Ham.

Rodon, 22, has never played in the Premier League before and currently turns out for Swansea.

Wales boss Ryan Giggs compared Rodon to Gary Pallister back in May, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“Joe has grown over the last year or so. He is quick. It made me think a little bit of Gary Pallister. You don’t think of him as quick but when he got going at his peak, he was,” said Giggs.

“In possession, Joe shows composure and he’s a good character. Bit intense but set standards and if he didn’t keep to them, he wasn’t happy with himself.”

Calum Chambers

Chambers has shone out on loan at Fulham and Middlesbrough in recent seasons.

Some West Ham fans might have concerns about the fact both those clubs were relegated, but that wasn’t to do with Chambers’ performances.

He needs to get fit and get a run of games under his belt and a loan spell could help Chambers and West Ham.

Did West Ham sell Grady Diangana just to finance loan deals though?
