West Bromwich Albion striker Saido Berahino looks likely to sign for Stoke City.
With Stoke City closing in on signing Saido Berahino (Daily Mirror), we take a look at three players West Bromwich Albion could replace the 22-year-old with.
Diafra Sakho (West Ham)
West Ham are on the hunt for new additions up-front, and it seems that Sakho could be sacrificed.
At the moment Sunderland look like the most likely team to sign the Frenchman, but West Brom should consider him.
Sakho has scored fairly regularly for West Ham during his two seasons in English football, and would make a good addition at the Hawthorns.
Dwight Gayle (Crystal Palace)
When Gayle and Berahino were at Peterborough United together earlier in their careers, it was the former who outshone the West Brom man.
However, Gayle’s move to Crystal Palace has not worked out for him as he planned.
Although Gayle has finished as Crystal Palace’s top scorer for the past three seasons, Alan Pardew appears to have reservations over using the 25-year-old.
Gayle is currently being linked with Newcastle United, but he could be a good option for West Brom – and would be a natural replacement for Berahino, given that Pardew has admitted that he is the best finisher at Palace.
Andre Gray (Burnley)
Forcing through a transfer for Gray would likely set West Brom back all the money that they would receive for Berahino, but he would be a great signing.
Gray has impressed at Burnley in the Championship, and looks set to be their main man in the Premier League next term.
However, a bid from West Brom may turn the young striker’s head – and Tony Pulis should seriously consider making a move for the clinical finisher.
