Sunderland’s star man could be sold by his parent club in January.

Sunderland’s nightmare season could be about to get worse in January as it looks increasingly likely that top scorer Lewis Grabban is set to move on.
According to the Birmingham Mail, AFC Bournemouth are set to recall the striker and then could sell him to Wolverhampton Wanderers or Aston Villa who have both made enquiries about him.
Grabban has excelled in a struggling side. He’s scored 11 goals in 17 league games for the Black Cats which has inevitably caught the eye of the Championship’s leading clubs.
Sunderland will desperately need to replace him but it will be difficult to find someone as prolific as him given their limited budget. Here are three players Chris Coleman may be able to get his hands on.
Ben Woodburn
Coleman knows all about Liverpool’s 18-year-old starlet. He’s handed the forward six senior Wales caps and Woodburn repaid him by scoring a crucial goal against Austria back in September.

The Sunderland Echo report that Woodburn is on Sunderland’s radar, understandably so given his talent and good relationship with Coleman who knows how to get the best out of him. He’s featured just once for Liverpool so a loan move would be a welcome one. Ironically, Woodburn scored a beauty in Liverpool u23’s 4-1 victory over Sunderland’s u23s in front of Coleman earlier this week.
James Wilson
Manchester United’s James Wilson made his long awaited comeback from a serious knee injury he suffered in September 2016 back in the summer. He’s been playing regularly for United’s under 23s and is their top scorer this season.

The 22-year-old burst onto the scene when he scored two goals at Old Trafford against Hull City back in 2014. He then struggled to establish himself under Louis Van Gaal and subsequently was loaned out to Brighton and Hove Albion during 2015-16 season where he scored five Championship goals.
Wilson’s ready for first team football again and loan to a Championship club would be perfect for him to get back to where he was prior to his injury. He’s prolific in the box which is exactly what Sunderland need.
Gary Madine
Bolton Wanderers striker Gary Madine is on Coleman’s shortlist according to the Daily Mail. The six foot three forward would bring much needed firepower to Sunderland’s front line and his combative style is suited to a relegation battle.

The Trotters are one of a few clubs who are in a similar or worse financial predicament than Sunderland which could aid them in their attempts to lure him from the Macron Stadium. Madine has been in decent form for Bolton, he’s scored four goals in his last seven matches.
