Leicester’s Argentine striker looks to be heading for the exit door, but where could the big forward end up?

After the arrivals of Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa, Leicester City appear to have a surplus of strikers, and the name most likely heading out the exit door looks to be Argentine, Leonardo Ulloa.

Ulloa, who joined Leicester from Brighton & Hove Albion in 2014, has been utilised as a target man, often brought on as a substitute to give Leicester and option from set pieces. However, the arrival of Slimani, a player who performs a similar role to Ulloa, appears to have cast the Argentine out in the dark, and it is believed that the former Brighton man is now looking for a move away from the King Power. So, who are the three mostly likely contenders for his signature?

Many were left mystified when it was announced on deadline day that Derby County were loaning out their top scorer of the last three seasons, Chris Martin. What left fans even more confused was the fact that, despite bringing in Watford’s Matej Vydra, Derby chose not to bring in a like-for-like replacement for Martin. Vydra, who has already shown Derby fans a glimpse of how talented he can be, is known mostly for his ability to play off another striker, most obviously from his time at Watford, playing off Troy Deeney. Therefore, you would expect Derby to look for another striker in January, to complement Vydra’s style of play, and with a loan-to-buy offer potentially on the cards, Ulloa could be an excellent option for the Rams.

After missing out on bringing back star striker, Dieumerci Mbokani, in the summer, the Canaries are still on the hunt for a new centre-forward. With Cameron Jerome currently doing the business, the Championship outfit will be in no rush to reinforce. However, the possibility of Jerome picking up an injury will be firmly in the thoughts of Alex Neil, and Ulloa could be an excellent back-up option.

Despite signs of a slow and steady improvement, QPR are still languishing around mid-table and, considering the amount of money that has been invested in the club over the last few years, it’s understandable that many QPR fans feel frustrated by the Hoops’ stagnation. If asked for a reason why the club seems to be failing to challenge for a play-off place each year, many QPR fans would point the finger at the fact that they have never really replaced former striker, Charlie Austin. The Rs lack that big, target man, who can mop up the loose balls and finish one-on-ones; exactly the type of play that Leicester’s Ulloa could bring.
