As Swansea City adjust to life under a new manager and as they prepare for a potential relegation battle, we take a look at the three players who can play a central role in maintaining their Premier League status beyond the end of the season.

Gylfi Sigurdsson

There’s no doubt this player has to be first on the list with his incredible ability to turn games on their head regardless of the opponent.

The Icelandic midfielder can go missing at times but when he’s on his game, he tears teams apart with his outstanding technical ability.

Swansea may not create too many chances from open play this season but with Sigurdsson’s set-piece ability that may not be much of a problem either.

Bob Bradley needs to get the 27-year-old in fine form if he wants his team to escape the drop this season -He’s the man the Swansea players look to when they need a spark and he’s the player who can play the biggest role this season.

Lukasz Fabianski

The Polish international was something of a surprise signing when he joined the club but he’s certainly impressed since arriving in South Wales.

Fabianski contributed so some of the saves of the season in the Premier League last season and he has a big role to play again this season.

The former Arsenal stopper is expected to be fairly busy between now and the end of the season so Swansea will need him to remain in top form to give them the best chance of remaining in the top flight.

Borja Baston

There’s no guarantee with this one because we haven’t seen an awful lot of him but Swansea need him to hit the ground running.

Baston showed glimpses of quality against a good Liverpool outfit last time out and you can see he has the ability to succeed at the Liberty Stadium.

The Swans secured his services for a club record fee of £15.5 million and they need him to fire them out of trouble this season.

Baston should be Swansea’s main source of goals this season and if he can’t live up to that expectation, Bob Bradley may struggle to source enough goals to stay in the top flight.
