Arsenal fans will hope for some incoming deals in January, with Mikel Arteta in need of some help.

However, some players may need to leave for others to come in, and here are three players who should January as an opportunity to leave Arsenal and establish themselves elsewhere…

Matt Macey

Quite simply, it’s time for him to move on. The 26-year-old arrived from Bristol Rovers in 2013 with real hope of becoming a first-team player, but it just hasn’t quite happened for him. Loan spells at Accrington Stanley, Luton Town and Plymouth Argyle haven’t pushed him any closer to first-team football at Arsenal, and the 6ft 7in stopper now needs to leave Arsenal in search of playing time in the Football League.

Shkodran Mustafi

Mustafi hasn’t really lived up to the £35million Arsenal paid to sign him from Valencia in 2016; he now finds himself down the pecking order, with just two Premier League appearances to his name this season – both as a substitute. Mustafi has been linked with a number of clubs in recent times, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, this would be an ideal time to move on and get himself fixed up with a new club.

Sead Kolasinac

Kolasinac was a free transfer signing from Schalke in 2017, but now finds himself out of favour – just like Mustafi. The 27-year-old is behind both Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka in the left back spot, having played just once in the Premier League this season, and simply needs to leave to start playing again, having missed out on a move to Bayer Leverkusen in October.
