With West Ham starting the Premier League season in terrible form, here are three players who need to up their game.

On Monday morning, Slaven Bilic paid the price for West Ham’s dire start to the season with his job. The Hammers currently sit in 18th place in the Premier League and look set for a relegation battle unless David Moyes can mastermind a turnaround.

With the international break coming up, here are three underperforming West Ham players who need to step up their games after the international break.

Joe Hart

The last few years have seen a fall from grace for Joe Hart. After an underwhelming loan spell at Torino, Hart now finds himself at the London Stadium, with his Manchester City future seemingly coming to an end and his place as England number one under severe threat.

Hart has endured a turbulent start to life at West Ham and would have been expected to impress more against a side with one of the worst defences in the division. If he wants to continue his England career and play a bigger part in West Ham’s season, he’ll need to up his game after the international break.

Javier Hernandez

Many Premier League fans lauded Javier Hernandez as one of the signings of the summer when he put pen to paper on a deal to bring him to the London Stadium. However, the Mexican forward hasn’t produced the returns West Ham fans were hoping for in the summer.

With four goals in 11 league games, two of which came against Southampton, Chicharito’s start to life in London hasn’t been disastrous and The Hammers’ reliance on the former Real Madrid loanee has been a hampering factor, but looking back on his time at Manchester United, we know the Mexican is capable of more.

Moyes will have to find a way to make use of him – utilising him as a striker rather than a wide attacker would help – to help the club push up the table.

Andre Ayew

After a scintillating performance against Spurs in the Carabao Cup, West Ham fans have been left asking why the Ghanaian can’t replicate that kind of form in the Premier League.

With Andy Carroll and Diafra Sacko misfiring, a consistent stretch of form from Ayew would significantly ease the pressure and reliance on Javier Hernandez. Ayew has the potential to be an incredibly dangerous player at times, but The Hammers expect more than two goals and two assists from one of their most gifted players.
