HITC Sport looks at three players who might regret joining Leeds United last summer.

It has been close to eight months since last summer’s transfer window closed and it was far more a case of quantity rather than quality for Leeds United.

Under Director of Football Victor Orta, Leeds welcomed no fewer than 20 new faces to West Yorkshire, but Samu Saiz and Egzjan Alioski have been the only success stories.

Here, HITC Sport looks at some players who will probably regret their decision to join United.

Leeds player Mateusz Klich in action during the Sky Bet Championship match between Cardiff City and Leeds United at Cardiff City Stadium on September 26, 2017 in Cardiff, Wales.

Mateusz Klich

The Polish midfielder was the first player to arrive in the Thomas Christiansen era, and the first one to leave in it after the former Leeds boss barely played him. Some £1.5 million was paid out for Klich, but the 27-year-old started only one Championship game for the Whites, before being loaned to FC Utrecht in January. Since returning to the Eredivisie, the former FC Twente star has been playing regularly once again and you wonder whether he would think twice about his move to Elland Road, if he knew what he does now.

Pawel Cibicki

Leeds fans might have already forgotten about him – and for good reason. The Swedish attacker had a few impressive performances in and around December time under Christiansen, but his form nosedived since and Cibicki has only seen two Championship appearances this year. Considering he rarely even travels to games with the first team, he is not even a squad player under Paul Heckingbottom at the moment and he can’t be delighted with how his United career has gone thus far.

Leeds United's English defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (R) vies with Leicester City's English midfielder Marc Albrighton during the English League Cup fourth round football match...

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson

The 21-year-old returned to Manchester United after his dreadful loan spell at Leeds was cut short in January. Borthwick-Jackson played the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw with Preston on August 12 and never played another Championship game. It was obvious that Christiansen didn’t like what he saw from him, evident by the fact that his appearances in other competitions – especially the League Cup defeat by Leicester – were a glaring reminder of his deficiencies.
