Liverpool may look to offload some fringe players this summer.

Simon Mignolet of Liverpool shouts instructions during the Premier League match between Liverpool and Chelsea at Anfield on November 25, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Whilst Liverpool fans are still reeling from Saturday’s 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, there has been undeniable progress under Jurgen Klopp this season, and this summer should bring some exciting new arrivals to Anfield as they attempt to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League crown.

Signings will be key, but so will offloading fringe players who aren’t part of Klopp’s plans – and here are three players who made be heading for the Anfield exit door this summer…

Simon Mignolet

Belgian shot-stopper Mignolet started the campaign as Klopp’s first-choice goalkeeper, but he lost his place to Loris Karius this year and hasn’t been able to regain it. Rumours continue to link Liverpool with another goalkeeper too, especially after Karius’ nightmare display against Real Madrid, and the 2013 signing from Sunderland may find that he needs to leave Anfield this summer in order to play first-team football elsewhere.

Divock Origi

Four years ago, Origi was a sensation for Belgium at the World Cup in Brazil, but this time around, he isn’t even in the Belgium squad for the trip to Russia summing up his time with Liverpool. The 23-year-old attacker has scored just six goals on loan with Wolfsburg this season, and having failed to prove that he is a Liverpool-standard player, this may be the summer that the Reds cash in on Origi.

Daniel Sturridge

Striker Sturridge made nine Premier League appearances before being sent out on loan to West Bromwich Albion in January, where his injury issues again hit him hard, limiting him to just 116 minutes of action. The 28-year-old is far from the player he was four years ago, and it may now be time for Liverpool to offload the injury-prone attacker now having clearly failed to prove himself to manager Klopp.
