Liverpool take on Manchester United on 17th October, and there are players from both sides that need to watch their steps in the games beforehand.

There are still games to play for both sides before the big Anfield clash for both Liverpool and Manchester United, but if some players want to be involved in the game they will need to ensure they watch their step.

Two players who have featured in every Premier League game for Manchester United so far and one for Liverpool are walking something of a tightrope in the next two league fixtures.

Liverpool’s captain Jordan Henderson seems to have found some good form in a deeper midfield role, but is now just two yellow cards away from a one-match suspension, while Manchester United’s Marouane Fellaini and Wayne Rooney will also have to watch their steps if they are to be available for the trip to Anfield next month.

Henderson will have to come through games against Hull City at Anfield and Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium next week prior to the international break.

United’s duo, however, face Leicester City at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime before another home clash against Stoke City the following week. Their roles in United’s side are probably a little more under microscope. Some are questioning whether Fellaini partnering Paul Pogba in United’s midfield is getting the best out of the side while Rooney has had a poor start to the season.

Some may be of the opinion that if one or both of Fellaini and Rooney were to pick up two bookings from their next two games, it could make Mourinho’s selection decision that bit more easier by the time the Liverpool game comes around.
