The Rangers striker is reportedly looking to quit Ibrox this winter.
According to the Scottish Sun, Martyn Waghorn is ready to quit Glasgow Rangers in January, with Bristol City and Fulham both keen.
The Englishman scored 28 goals in his first season at Ibrox, but has struggled this term and is said to be unhappy that he has not been rewarded with a new contract like other Gers stars.
Were Waghorn to depart, Rangers boss Mark Warburton would almost certainly enter the transfer market and the following three strikers could make smart replacements:
Danny Ward
Rotherham have endured a difficult campaign so far, but their star striker certainly hasn’t, scoring eight goals in 16 Championship outings. Like Waghorn, Ward can play either out wide and through the middle, and with his contract up next summer, Rangers could perhaps get him cheaply in January.
Sam Winnall
Another whose contract expires in less than eight months time. Winnall may have only scored four times for Barnsley this season, but he struck 21 times as the Tykes were promoted from League One last term. With Tom Bradshaw and Adam Armstrong for company up front, the Yorkshire side may be willing to sanction the 25-year-old’s departure this winter.
Stevie May
May scored 27 times in all competitions during his last season in Scotland as a St. Johnstone player, but has struggled since moving south of the border, initially at Sheffield Wednesday and presently at Preston North End. A serious injury has kept out the Scotland international for over a year, although he is now back in training. Assuming everything goes to plan, the 24-year-old is likely to return to action this winter, which could be perfect timing for Rangers, who were linked with him in 2015.
