HITC Sports looks at three Tottenham Hotspur men who Mauricio Pochettino should offload.
Moussa Sissoko
Moussa Sissoko might look like he is improving for Tottenham, and he is, but it’s worth remembering that he’s been compared to the god-awful version Spurs fans were subjected to last season so any slight improvement was always going to be exaggerated.
Fact is that Sissoko – who has one goal and one assist in 10 games across all competitions this season – remains nowhere near to justifying his £30 million fee and chairman Daniel Levy should cash in when the window re-opens unless there is an ever bigger improvement from the Frenchman.
Erik Lamela
The Argentine is adored by half of Tottenham’s fanbase and often criticised by the other half. Fortunately for him, the only opinion that matters is Pochettino’s but even the boss might be wondering whether to cut him loose in January – if he is fit.
Lamela hasn’t kicked a ball for the club in close to a year due to a hip injury, but even when he is fit there are questions over his productivity. The 25-year-old has eight goals and 18 assists in 85 Premier League games and although there is no way to measure his excellent off-the-ball work, he does not offer enough in an attacking sense.
Georges-Kevin Nkoudou
It’s probably time for Tottenham to admit defeat regarding the French winger. The fact that Pochettino did not start the £9.4 million man against Barnsley in the League Cup last month was quite the indictment of his manager’s faith in him.
He did make a cameo appearance against the Tykes but a continued lack of a final ball means that the Argentine manager should probably let the 22-year-old – who turns 23 in February – leave North London in January.
