Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers admits he’s uncertain if Roberts will return to the Bhoys next season – could the following Leicester City, Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur players do a job?

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted he doesn’t know if Patrick Roberts will return to the club when his current loan spell expires.

That could leave the Bhoys in the market for a new wide player this summer and the following Leicester City, Hull City and Tottenham Hotspur players might just be available:

Bartosz Kapustka [Leicester City]

A player recommended by former Celtic scout Neil McGuinness in 2016 [Herald], Kapustka signed for then Premier League champions Leicester City instead. The versatile 20-year-old has played more times for the Foxes’ Under-23s than he has the first team, however, and would perhaps jump at the chance to play regular matches. Despite his lack of action at Leicester, Kaputska played 65 times for previous club Cracowia and has 14 caps for Poland already.

Sam Clucas [Hull City]

Though a natural on the left, Clucas does have some experience of playing on the opposite flank, and his excellent dribbling skills suggest he’d be a success in Roberts’ role, cutting in off the right flank. He’s been a regular at Hull this season, but could fancy a move to Celtic Park if the Tigers go down. Also a capable left-back, the 26-year-old’s capture would soften the blow of losing either of Kieran Tierney or Emilio Izaguirre this summer.

Georges-Kevin N’Koudou [Tottenham Hotspur]

The two-footed N’Koudou has so far failed to justify the £10 million fee paid for him by Tottenham last summer, and could be set for a return to his native France when the transfer window re-opens. However, with The Sun reporting last week that interest has been scarce so far, Spurs may be inclined to loan him out for a year – a gamble Celtic should certainly consider if so. The former Marseille player has played six times for France’s Under-21s, suggesting there’s a player in there somewhere.
