Leeds have already sold Samu Saiz, and others could join him in leaving.

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has already lost one of his star men in Samu Saiz, with the Spaniard joining Getafe on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent switch. But he may not be the only one.

The January window is just a week away, in a month that could be make or break for Leeds’ promotion credentials. A new centre-back, goalkeeper and perhaps a Saiz replacement could be targeted.

But there could be players following Saiz through the exit door. Here are three players that may consider leaving Elland Road next month:

Tom Pearce

The 20-year-old defender has been out injured of late with a foot injury, but Pearce hardly got much game time before that. Indeed, the signing of Barry Douglas has limited him to just two Championship appearances.

With Bielsa also boasting cover in the likes of Stuart Dallas, Gaetano Berardi and even impressive youngster Clarke Odour, Pearce is somewhat flexible if he wants to leave. A January loan could be on the cards.

Conor Shaughnessy

The colossal Irish defender has not had the best time under the guidance of Argentine Bielsa. Even with Leeds’ current centre-back woes that sees them without Liam Cooper, Berardi and Luke Ayling, he remains nowhere to be seen.

Finnish youngster Aapo Halme has leaped ahead of the 22-year-old in the pecking order. Shaughnessy has only managed one appearance in the Carabao Cup – and he was hooked at half-time. Surplus to requirements.

Lewis Baker

Much more involved in the first team, 23-year-old Baker has put the effort in and tried to show he is worthy of a place in the side by turning out for the reserves time after time. With Saiz gone, he may get a chance.

But the Chelsea loanee – earning £20,000 a week at Chelsea (Spotrac) – has been substituted by Bielsa in both of his two Championship starts. If Leeds want to bring in a better alternative, he may be axed.
