Former captain Nedum Onuoha has left QPR after six-and-a-half years, and Steve McClaren will need to choose a new skipper wisely.
Queens Park Rangers are set for another gruelling campaign in the Championship in 2018/19 and will do so under the stewardship of a new manager, Steve McClaren. The former England Head Coach replaces Ian Holloway and one of his first tasks will be to appoint a new club-captain.
The recently departed Nedum Onuoha has been skipper for the last three seasons, but moves on from Loftus Road on a free transfer after six-and-a-half years.

McClaren is likely to remain coy – for now at least – on who’ll he’ll select in the new campaign, but there’s certainly some worthy contenders to note. Queens Park Rangers midfield linchpin Massimo Luongo is certainly a name that’ll be considered by McClaren and assistant John Eustace. The Australian star is set to feature for his nation in this summer’s World Cup, and he was superb for the R’s last season.
The 25-year-old contributed six goals and three assists and is certainly a respected member of the squad and a fan’s favourite with his dynamic display’s.

Josh Scowen would be another sensible candidate. Often paired to play alongside Luongo in the heart of the Queens Park Rangers midfield, the former Barnsley man wore the armband in Rangers’ last two league games against Birmingham City and Leeds United respectively. The 25-year-old enjoyed a fine debut campaign in west London and offers similar leadership skills to Luongo.
Centre-back Joel Lynch is likely to be another name in the mix to take the armband. The 30-year-old has endured a number of injuries since signing in 2016, but had a strong finish to the last campaign. The former Huddersfield Town man is perhaps a long-shot, but McClaren would be foolish to rule him out completely.
